What is the Kansas City Literary Festival?
The Kansas City Literary Festival (KCLF) is a celebration of books, reading and talented writers. It's an event for all ages and all reading interests connecting international, national and local authors with people who love the allure, education and enchantment of a good book. It boasts a unique combination of literary activities, specialty venues (performing, kids and poetry), special interest programs, authors and exhibitors. Set within the famed and beautiful Country Club Plaza---the heart of Kansas City---it seeks to galvanize the literary community and its organizations in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. It endeavors to bring them together with the general public to collectively encourage literature as a critical pillar for the community and a foundation for individual lives.
The single day (Saturday) event offers multi-stage programming of works in fiction/non-fiction, poetry, specialty authors/topics, panels, children's literature and the performaning arts. The KCLF probes each genre and exhibits how they exist uniquely within other artistic disciplines such as theater, film, dance, art and music.
